Volunteering Opportunities

Are you looking to volunteer for a friendly, local project?  Neighbours Together is looking for volunteers to help older people regain their confidence and health by joining a local activity in their neighbourhood.  You can volunteer for as little as two hours a week, or for longer, we will value whatever you can offer.

Neighbours Together is a Volunteer lead project and you will be essential to its success.  Your fantastic skills and commitment to this project will make sure that older people on their own in Watford and Three Rivers will be able to find a way to meet other people and become part of a community again.

How you can get involved:

Could you support Neighbours Together in your local area? Our Neighbourhood Champions will be promoting our “What’s On” guide.  This free guide includes a comprehensive list of all the activities and events aimed at older people in the area.

We are looking for local residents and people who work in the heart of the community to promote the guide for us.

In return we offer you:

  • A regular supply of our quarterly What’s On guide

  • The opportunity to be listed as an official distribution point

  • Publicity on social media sites

  • The chance to be involved in a wider project to help older people stay active and well

Community Champions

Could you support an older person to attend a local group or social event?  It could be a community café, a club or activity where they can take part in a hobby or interest that is important to them.

We are looking for volunteer Neighbourhood Connectors.  By volunteering your time to take an older person along to an event, you will be helping someone to overcome the fear of going out alone and meeting new people.  However much or little time to spare you could make a huge difference to an older person’s life.

In return we offer you:

  • A flexible volunteering opportunity close to home

  • On-going training and support as required

  • The opportunity to make new friends

  • Regular news updates

  • Volunteers ‘Thank you’ events
