What is a safeguarding concern?

Any worry about an adult who has or appears to have care and support needs, who is subjected to or may be at risk of, abuse or neglect and who may be unable to protect themselves from the abuse or neglect or risk of it.

 

Any worry about a child or young person who is subjected to or may be at risk of abuse.

What is the process for recognising and responding to a concern?

Always Remember the four ‘R’s:

  • Recognise

  • Respond

  • Refer 

  • Record

 
What do you do if you have a Safeguarding concern during our office hours?

Take immediate action if you are you concerned about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult’s immediate welfare (physical, emotional, sexual) or you suspect neglect.

 

W3RT has a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads. You can contact them during our opening hours which are 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm at the weekend and on bank holidays. You can reach them on 01923 216962 or by emailing safeguarding@w3rt.org

 

If you believe an individual is at immediate risk or is a danger to themselves or others then do not hesitate to contact the emergency services.  Please dial 999 and the police / ambulance service will attend.

What do you do if you have a Safeguarding concern outside of our office hours?

Take immediate action if you are you concerned about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult’s immediate welfare (physical, emotional, sexual) or you suspect neglect.

If you can, we strongly recommend that you download the Herts Safeguarding app available on Apple and Android phones. Go to your App store and search ‘HSAB SAFA’.
